Members of the RAID elite police unit stand behind a ballistic shield as they face a man wearing a yellow vest and wielding a grenade, which could be tear gas, at the car wash station of the Espace Anjou shopping centre in Angers, western France, on November 23, 2018. A police intervention was ongoing as a man holding a grenade was demanding that the "Yellow Vests" (Gilet Jaunes) protesters were to be received at the Elysee Palace. Hundreds of thousands of people wearing fluorescent yellow jackets began blockading roads and energy infrastructure across France on November 17 to protest against higher fuel prices and low living standards.
