An armed man tried to attack a police station in the neighborhood of La Goutte d'Or, in the 18th district of Paris, around midday on a day that marks Charlie Hebdo's massacre anniversary.
The man allegedly ran towards the police station, holding a meat cleaver and wearing what seemed to be an explosive jacket and yelling "Allahu Akbar!", according to governmental sources.
A fake explosive jacket
Policemen standing in front of the station opened fire and shot the man down. He died a few minutes later. The explosive device worn by the assailant was analyzed and declared fake.
Investigators found a piece of paper in his pocket with an ISIS flag drawn on it and an unequivocal handwritten claim in arabic. The case has been referred to the antiterrorist section of the Prosecutor's Office.
